A passenger on an Americans Airline flight leaving La Guardia airport in New York City allegedly became irate with the crew of the flight when they continually wished him a “Merry Christmas.”
Americans Airline flight 1140 was leaving La Guardia for Dallas on Christmas day, when a gate agent welcomed everyone with “Merry Christmas” while checking boarding passes. The man, who has yet to be identified, but was reportedly traveling alone, told the gate agent, “You shouldn’t say that.”
The gate agent asked the grumpy man, “Well, what should I say then?”
“Don’t say Merry Christmas!” the man shouted as he bolted past her to board the plane.
Once aboard the plane the flight attendant, who was unaware of the altercation that happened at the gate, wished him a Merry Christmas. That’s when things got ugly.
“Don’t say Merry Christmas!” the man shouted again before launching into a tirade, lecturing both the flight attendants and the pilot who was standing there to greet the passengers.
The crew tried to calm the man down, but were unsuccessful. After a few minutes, they decided to escort him off the plane while the passengers who had already boarded cheered.
