Gold Rush TV Star Leaves Internet Tingling With His Rendition Of 1964 Chart Topper

Updated November 13, 2017

Originally written and performed by Simon & Garfunkel, “The Sound of Silence” has had a reemergence in recent years. Although it came out and was famous decades ago, people are singing it and getting a great reception online and on records.

The group released the song back in 1964, and it climbed its way up to the number 1 spot on the popular music charts. A song with that much power and radiance will not go away overnight. And this song has what it takes to last throughout time. That must make Simon & Garfunkel extremely proud.

Many artists have covered it over the years, but the one we’re sharing with you today takes it to a new horizon.

If you’ve never seen “Gold Rush,” the reality television show that followers gold miners, then you’re missing out. And that means you aren’t familiar with Todd Hoffman one of the stars from the program.

While he spends his days looking for gold, he also has a talent that has been hidden from fans since he started starring on the program. Hoffman is a wonderful singer with a spectacular voice.

The Simon & Garfunkel version of the sound is incredible. But Hoffman’s rendition will take your breath away.

Question of the week: If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Hoffman was born in 1972 but decided to risk everything when the 2008 financial crisis destroyed his prospects. Before his life went down into the dumps, Hoffman owned an airspace company. He rented space to private jets. But as CEOs and wealthy tycoons took fewer private jet trips during the Great Recession, Hoffman’s business went under.

But he saw an opportunity. As the government printed more and more paper money, the value of gold kept increasing. He knew that there was still gold out in the wild west, so Hoffman packed up a few of his belongings and went to Alaska. He was instrumental in turning “Gold Rush” into the hit show it is on the Discovery Channel.

For the singing performance, Hoffman simply posted the video on his YouTube channel with the following humble caption:

“Here is a quick video Brian shot to go over my cover song. It’ was the hardest vocals so far. Feels like I’m progressing but a long way from where I would like to go. Enjoy,” he posted in the caption.

Below are some popular responses from viewers like you:

While Hoffman has made a name for himself with his voice after releasing this single, people are requesting certain songs from him. One of the most popular requests is for Hoffman to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
